December 2025: Minister for Justice: Drafting of Valerie's Law is ongoing and it is on the priority list for publication in this session.
The Irish Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme provides government-funded compensation to victims of violent crime (or their dependents) for personal injuries. It covers vouched out-of-pocket expenses, such as medical costs and loss of earnings, but not stolen/damaged property, and is administered independently by the Criminal Injuries Compensation Tribunal.
